I was thinking about taking photos of all my old knitting projects that I could still get my hands on, for that day when my Ravelry invitation arrived, and I would actually, maybe, organize a gallery of Finished Objects. But when I considered writing up blog-like entries for those items, the narrative in my head wasn't knitterly. It was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek letter to Alison, about what was happening in my life when I was knitting that item. Which reminded me of something I used to write in my journals about my knitting - that I was a spy, knitting all my secrets into the cuffs of cardigans, a la Madame Defarge. Which also made me think about knitting in literature, and the influence it has had on my own knitting (and frankly, how very few good roles knitting has had in literature, lately). Combine all that with a bit of procrastination at work, where I am supposed to be writing things that will actually be published, and ta da - you get this, whatever it is.
